FORMULA SHEET Polynomials Reference Essential formulas, theorems, and algorithms for analyzing polynomial functions and their zeros. Fundamental Theorem of Algebra Zero Multiplicity and Graph Behavior Write the coefficients of f(x) in descending order (use 0 for any missing degree). Write c (the zero of the divisor) to the left. Bring down the leading coefficient. Multiply by c , add to the next coefficient, and repeat. The last number is the remainder; the rest are the quotient's coefficients (one degree lower than f ). Divide the leading term of the (remaining) dividend by the leading term of d(x) . Multiply that quotient term by the entire divisor d(x) . Subtract the result from the dividend. Repeat until the remainder's degree is less than .
