Every extra row adds the same number of new seats — one relationship for a single row, the whole section, and the design tradeoffs. A stadium section starts with 20 seats in the front row, and each row back has 4 more seats than the row before it — three things you can do with one relationship. Build the section row by row and watch the running seat total climb — each new row adds exactly 4 more seats than the one before it. Flip the question around: instead of one row, ask how many seats are in the WHOLE section up to a chosen row — same relationship, summed. Compare two designs over the SAME 20 rows: the base design (4 extra seats per row) versus a steeper one — drag to see how much a bigger step compounds. One relationship, three moves: read it (seats in a row), sum it (seats in a section), weigh it (a bigger step compounds over every later row). Anywhere something grows by the SAME constant amount each step — stadium rows , stacked shipping containers , a fixed raise each year — this arithmetic, constant-difference pattern applies.
