The Enigma machine had three main components that worked together to scramble messages: Swapped letter pairs before and after encryption (e.g., A↔Z, B↔Y) Spinning wheels that scrambled letters in complex patterns Sent signals back through rotors, making encryption reversible Here's what made Enigma brilliant: After each letter was typed, the rotors would advance (like an odometer), changing the encryption pattern for the next letter.
