Finding A ∪ (B ∩ C')
Discrete Math · Axiom Academy
Learn to evaluate complex set expressions step-by-step using visual set operations. Excellent work! You've successfully evaluated a complex set expression. Here's what we learned: Order of Operations: Evaluate set expressions from the inside out, starting with operations in parentheses, just like in algebra! Complement (C'): The complement of a set contains all elements in the universal set that are NOT in the original set. Intersection (∩): A ∩ B contains only elements that appear in BOTH sets A and B. Union (∪): A ∪ B contains all elements that appear in EITHER set A OR set B (or both). Universal Set: When finding complements, the universal set is typically determined from the context of all sets in the problem. This systematic approach works for any complex set expression. Remember: work from the innermost parentheses outward, one operation at a time!
