The question type with no answer choices — you type the exact number into a real box, and the box's format is part of the problem. 1. No Choices, No Partial Credit Solve 2x + 5 = 29 and Numeric Entry doesn't give you five candidates to check against — it gives you one empty box and asks you to type x yourself. Watch the equation solve down to x = 12 , then watch that 12 get typed into the actual entry field, digit by digit, the way it happens on the real test. Solve for the unknown — same as any equation Then TYPE it — nothing to select 2. Decimals: the Rounding Instruction Is Part of the Answer Decimal Numeric Entry questions tell you how many places to keep — "round to the nearest hundredth," "nearest tenth" — and that instruction isn't a suggestion. Watch a raw calculation of get rounded two different ways: rounding to the nearest tenth types 7.4 , but if the question asked for the nearest hundredth , that same 7.4 is marked wrong — only 7.43 satisfies the instruction. 7.4 is not "close enough" when hundredths is asked for — it's a different, incorrect answer. Estimate roughly before you calculate precisely — if your exact answer is wildly different from your estimate, you likely made an arithmetic error. And if you're choosing between decimal and fraction form and the question doesn't force one, decimals are the safer default (the grading software is built around them). 3. Fractions: Simplify First, Then Enter
