SAT-Style: Factoring to Find Solutions

SAT Math · Axiom Academy

Worked Example with Verification This is a quadratic equation. We have a = 1, b = -5, c = 6. Let's try factoring. Multiply to give 6 (the c value) Answer: -2 and -3 work because (-2) × (-3) = 6 and (-2) + (-3) = -5 ✓ If (x - 2)(x - 3) = 0, then either: The SAT almost always designs quadratics to factor nicely. If you spot factors immediately, you can solve these problems in 30 seconds. The zero product property is your friend!
