SAT-Style: Linear Inequality Word Problems
SAT Math · Axiom Academy
Linear Inequality Word Problems Translating English to inequalities and solving Worked Example 1: Budget Constraint Worked Example 2: Minimum Requirement Worked Example 3: Range Constraint Identify constraints first: What is the limit or minimum? That tells you which inequality symbol to use. "At least" = ≥, "No more than" = ≤: These are the most common phrases. Memorize them. Check if whole numbers matter: Can't buy 3.5 items? Round appropriately. Always verify your answer makes sense: A negative number of items doesn't work in real-world problems.
