Polynomial Division & Remainder Theorem The Remainder Theorem (SAT Shortcut!) When you divide f(x) by (x - a), the remainder equals f(a). Key Insight: We don't need to do polynomial long division! We just evaluate the function. Solution: Using the Remainder Theorem We're dividing by (x - 2), so a = 2 Set up polynomial long division, perform many steps, time-consuming Plug in a value, evaluate, done.
