Interpreting Regression Coefficients
Statistics · Axiom Academy
LESSON Interpreting Regression Coefficients Understanding what slope and intercept tell us about the relationship between variables The slope b₁ tells us how much the predicted response variable (ŷ) changes for each one-unit increase in the predictor variable (x). 2. The Intercept Coefficient (b₀) The intercept b₀ represents the predicted value of ŷ when the predictor variable x equals zero. Understanding the units of regression coefficients is crucial for correct interpretation. 4. Meaningful vs Meaningless Intercepts Not all intercepts have practical interpretations. The intercept is only meaningful when x = 0 is within the range of observed data and makes sense in context.
