Why Calculus in Business?

Business Calculus · Axiom Academy

INTRO Why Calculus in Business? Discover how the mathematics of change drives better business decisions Imagine you're running a business. Every day you face critical questions: A Simple Example: The Lemonade Stand You sell lemonade at 2 per cup and sell 100 cups per day. You're thinking about raising your price. But here's the catch: if you raise the price, you'll sell fewer cups . Your revenue isn't a straight line - it's a curve! There's a sweet spot where you make the most money. Not too cheap, not too expensive. Economists and business people constantly ask: "What happens if I change things just a little bit?" If I make one more product, what does it cost? If I sell one more unit, how much revenue do I gain? If I hire one more worker, how much more can I produce? This is called marginal analysis , and it's the heart of business calculus. The derivative gives us the marginal rate - how fast something is changing at any given point. Growth, Decay, and Accumulation Business is full of exponential patterns: Calculus gives us two powerful tools: Derivatives tell us the rate of change (how fast is my profit growing?) Integrals tell us the total accumulation (what's my total profit over a year?) What You'll Learn in This Course By the end of Business Calculus, you'll be able to: Ready to become a more analytical decision-maker? Let's begin!
