Understanding the Digital SAT Format Master the structure, timing, and question types The Digital SAT (introduced in 2024) completely redesigned how the SAT Math section works. Understanding this new format is crucial for your success. Let's break it down step-by-step. The College Board moved to a digital format to make testing more accessible, reduce test bias, and allow for adaptive testing—meaning the test adjusts to your performance in real-time. The SAT Math section consists of two separate modules, each with distinct timing and difficulty characteristics. Each module currently has 22 questions in 35 minutes, for a total of 44 questions in 70 minutes, and Module 2's difficulty is based on your Module 1 performance. Mix of Easy & Medium difficulty Key Fact About Module 2 Difficulty The SAT Math section includes two main types of questions. Understanding the differences is essential. You select from 4 answer choices (A, B, C, D). These are faster to answer but can have tricky distractors. Strategy: Process of elimination is your friend. Eliminate obviously wrong answers before solving. You type your numerical answer into a grid. No answer choices to choose from, so you must calculate correctly. Strategy: Double-check your arithmetic. There's no partial credit, and you can't eliminate wrong answers. With 22 questions in 35 minutes per module, you have about 95 seconds per question on average. But you shouldn't spend equal time on every question.
